Cleansing
of Enchantica
Prologue: ************************************************************ “Your grace… as you know, darkness is taking Enchantica like a tidal wave. Our defensive strategy is flawed, and we have not won any battles. Things are dire indeed…” Said Eldahir. Earlier Sir Eldahir, the Baron of Enchantica, requested a private meeting with friend and Duke of Enchantica, Klenthi. They were in the throne room, its respectful name, but Klenthi hated the thought of sitting on a throne. Instead, the throne was moved to a back room and a great oak table replaced it, twenty feet long, lined all along with chairs also of oak inlaid with the purest silver. The table was the most amazing thing in the room, for under a layer of glass was a huge map of Enchantica. Its detail was amazing, and the smallest things were marked. Along the walls there were swords, shields, pikes, and the suits of armor of past great warriors. Klenthi was pacing back and forth the length of the table, while Eldahir was sitting on the other side of the table, nobly and boldly. “Yes Eldahir, this I know all to well. We know not where are enemy lies, or where they will attack next. Any offensive actions would be made blindly. For now we must sit and watch, doing what we can to defend ourselves. Remember my friend, the light will prevail.” Klenthi had been saddened and angered by the attacks on Enchantica, and many sleepless nights showed in his eyes and on his face. “I do not doubt that your grace, but our beloved Enchantica will be lost if nothing is done. Do you know of anything we can do?” At this there was a bold knock on the conference room’s great oak doors. Klenthi looked up with sad eyes. “You may enter.” A man clad in weathered battle armor walked through the large doors. He removed his helm and knelt. “Your grace, I am Knight Hadin, and I have come to offer my assistance in the battles for Enchantica. This is my homeland… It is my duty to do what I can to return it to the arms of the light. I have information about the enemy’s whereabouts, information that I believe you need.” Klenthi approached and circled the warrior. “And what do you ask in return?” “I am battle worn, and have much skill with the blade. I would it that I can fight at your side.” He pulled a map from under his breastplate and handed it to the duke. “This shows the current location of the enemy…” “I would be honored to have you at my side Sir Knight. As for this, how do you know what a hundred scouts died trying to figure?” “I have journeyed into the bowels of the darkness… and by a divine intervention I was allowed to return.” “I would like to hear more of your journey Sir Hadin…” Klenthi whispers to a guard who responds as if he is questioning the duke. He soon realizes his mistake, hails the duke and walks out. “Sir Hadin, please follow that guard to your room and prepare for dinner. Tonight we feast, tomorrow, we set out to our homeland.” ************************************************************
