The Origin of Power and Magic

as researched by Aular of the Light

The energy infinitum WAS and IS. It has existed forever, both extending into the past for infinity and into the future for infinity.
The Energy Infinitum is endless and will never end. Its power contains all things within it. Before the man existed, before the
world existed, and before the Universe itself existed, there was the Infinitum. A massive sea of energy that was both boundless
and orderless; it writhed and pulsed on a plane higher than humans are capable of perceiving.

Through this massive fluctuation of energy, it came about that a single point fixed itself, and became immobile. As the energy
around the point continued its swirled fluctuation, other points began fixing themselves to the first, creating a pocket of fixed
energy.

The Chaos around the fixed mass opposed the Ordered points. As the fixed points grew in number and power, the chaotic
mass was being drained of its power. In the ensuing struggle, a large explosion of energy in the super-natural realm rended the
two opposing forces on the opposite ends of infinity. The order sought its point of origin as far away from the Chaos as it
could. The Order reached forth from the most fixed location till it met the Chaos, which positioned itself as far away from the
Order as it could. The border between the two became a tense barrier of immense power. As the conflicts between the Order
and Chaos reached a boiling point, the border erupted. The smaller shock waves spread out in their area, and overlapping a
bit, created pockets where Order and Chaos could co-exist in some level or degree.

Thus, two major powers were created. And along the border of where these powers met, 4 minor powers were also created,
each containing a varying degree of Order and Chaos.

The power of Order became known as the power of the Light. It is the power that does not move. It's relentless in its resolve
and steadfast in any condition. It resists change, but also tries to bring things back to a natural harmony.

The opposing power became known as the power of the Dark. It is the power of change. The power to impose change and
the power to facilitate back to the primal roots of the Energy Infinitum. It is aggressive and resists all fixed states.

The four minor powers became known to us as the elements: Earth, Fire, Water and Wind. Each contains a portion of both
Order and Chaos, in varying degrees. Most ordered is Earth, followed by Water, Wind, and the least Ordered or most
Chaotic, Fire. Though even Earth has some
measure of Chaos and Fire some measure of Order.

Power diagram:
Pure Order/No Chaos: Light
Mostly Order/Little Chaos: Earth
Some Order/Some (less) Chaos: Water
Some (less) Order/ Some Chaos: Wind
Little Order/Mostly Chaos: Fire
Pure Chaos/No Order: Dark

The power's were thus arranged in a prismatic design in the vast sea of the Energy Infinitum. two at each Apex, and four in a
square shaped at the border of two poles. The powers, sending their energy in lines toward each other, create a network by
which the powers feed each other. Where Light goes to meet Dark, Dark to Light, Fire to Wind, Earth to Water - these all
intersect at one point. And it is here, where the six powers combine, that our Universe was created.

Our Universe rests at the meeting point of these powers. It is naturally balanced. From these powers, the laws of Chemistry
and Physics came into being. The world was created, formed and molded.

As the worlds in the Universe evolved, one planet in this vast universe saw the birth of sentient life. Man became master of their
physical world. It was an accident that led to the discovery of the Energy Infinitum. Magic was discovered. Drawing from the
infinitum and the 6 powers, the castor could alter reality to include their desire. They combined powers to affect reality. To
throw a fireball, one would draw from the power of fire and, to a lesser extent, the power of Wind. To cast a healing spell, one
would draw upon the power of the Light, and to a lesser extent, the power of Water.

Here are some examples of spells and their power components. The ROOT or dominant power that dictates the spell is in []:
Fireball: [Fire], wind
Earthquake: [Earth], dark
Holy Bolt: [Light], wind, fire
Teleport: [Dark] or [Light] (depending on the person)
Flame Wave: [Fire], wind, earth
Heal: [Light], water
Portal: [Light], wind -OR- [Dark], earth

Each mage who learned of magic found they were strong in some areas, and weak in others. Those with a strength in Fire,
could cast those spells that used Fire as a root better. If you were strong in Fire AND wind, then your fireballs were powerful
and fast compared to one strong in Fire and weak in wind. Each person was different, too.

As people learned how to manipulate the Energy Infinitum, greed emerged. Mages sought to gain more power than their fellow
mages. The ensuing and inevitable war wrecked havoc on the industrialized world. Eager men now wielding magic sought to
gain power from the Energy Infinitum.

Men used the powers of Light and Dark to sway people and rule. Evil existed in mages who wielded both powers. As the
world plummeted back into middle age type rule, the warring mages eventually killed each other. The wars lessened as rulers
gained the power and land they wanted. The world entered a period of relative calm.

Every person can feel the Energy Infinitum. The degree of its presence you feel is directly connected to how much of the power
you can hold. Thus, mages are among the people who can hold more of the powers, but those who seek the blade can still
manipulate the Energy Infinitum as well. Thus, "magic" the attribute does not measure your intelligence, rather, it measures your
natural ability to hold the energy from the Infinitum.

Other Universes may exist. In amidst this ancient sea of energy, not ALL the energy is grouped into one of the six powers.
Primal Chaos Energy and Primal Order Energy still battle beyond the realm of our powers. These two energies may be drawn
upon as magical forces, though not without GREAT consequence. Using any primal energy requires a strong affinity in LIGHT
or DARK and results in adverse results which have not been fully studied. It is reccommended that Primal Energy be left to its
own device. Within the battles beyond our universe between the primal order and chaos, other Universes may have been
created. Travel to these is not yet possible…and not known whether it is possible to do so. In theory these Universes exist, but
proof is beyond Human capacity.
